World Champion - Jenson Button by Stephen Doig. (B)

The magnificent debutant team of Brawn-Mercedes powered Jenson Button to the position of Formula One World Champion in the 2009 season. With six victories for Jenson in the first seven races, he was running away with the championship, clinching the title with a race to spare, by claiming fifth place at Interlagos in the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Jenson Button winning the 2009 Monaco Grand Prix. Driving for the Brawn GP team Jenson dominated the first half of the season winning six of the opening seven races of the campaign. This early season form gave Jenson a significant lead in the Drivers Championship which was ultimately too much for his rivals to overturn. The 2009 season was not only a memorable one for Jenson Button but also for his team Brawn GP. In what later transpired to be their only season as an independent team in Formula One, Brawn GP created history by winning both the Drivers and Constructors Championships at the first attempt. Following a takeover by Mercedes-Benz in November 2009 Brawn GP will be rebranded as Mercedes Grand Prix for the 2010 season.
