Cossack and Russian Reeld From the Sabre Stroke by C Dudley Tennant (PC) Inspired by the poem; The Charge of the Light Brigadeby Alfred, Lord Tennyson; depicted is the final allied cavalry charge by British cavalry at a Russian artillery battery during the Battle of Balaclava. The charge was the result of a miscommunication and ultimately led to over 250 casualties before the light brigade was forced to retreat. Taken from the original book plate, published 1920. |
