Notes :
Originally raised in 1658 as His Majesty's Troop of Horse Guards, this regiment was designated as the 1st Troop of Horse Guards in 1751. It later amalgamated with the 2nd Life Guards in 1922 to become known as the current Life Guards by 1928.

Regimental Battle Honours.

1740 - 1748 : War of the Austrian Succession, Battle of Dettingen.
1808 - 1814 : Napoleonic Wars, Peninsula War.
1815 : Battle of Waterloo.
1882 : Sudan War, Tel El Kibir and Egypt.
1899 - 1900 : Boer War, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeburg.
1914 - 1918 : First World War, Mons, Le Cateuax, Aisne, Messsines, Ypres, Somme, Arras, Hindenburg Line.
