The Storming of Dargai, 1897 by Vereker Monteith Hamilton One of the first major combat operations during the Tirah Campaign in the mountainous region of Tirah, in north-western Pakistan, was the attack on Dargai Heights. Pictured here is the Gordon Highlanders and 2nd King Edward VIIs own Gurkha Rifles on the 20th of October storming the enemy position atop the mountainside. |
The Battle of Quatre Bras by Vereker Monteith Hamilton The Battle of Quatre Bras took place on the 16th of June 1815. The battle was a prelude to the Battle of Waterloo that took place on the 18th. Victory at Quatre Bras went to Wellington and his forces, however the battle meant that the allied forces were held up and unable to reinforce the Prussian forces at the Battle of Ligny, causing Napoleons forces to gain a victory; the last in Napoleons military career, however. |
