George Hyde Pownall was born in England in 1876. George Hyde Pownall frequently painted Londons most lively places in the city producing works that captured the glowing lights, omni-buses and thrill of Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, and Hyde Park. George Hyde Pownall also painted many superb and striking views from the Thames River that incorporated Londons famous landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament and St. Pauls Cathedral. He lived and worked in Australia from circa 1911-1930, producing many fine paintings of Melbourne. He died in 1932. |
