Clipped Signature - Heinrich Schroeteler. U-Boat Captain.

Clipped Signature - Reggie Fitzgerald. Served as the casing officer aboard the submarine HMS Thrasher in the Mediterranean during World War Two.

Clipped Signature - Alan Cowley. An Electrical Mechanic in the Royal Navy, he served aboard HMS Charybdis on the Malta Convoys. He also worked as support for MGBs and Motor Launches and served in submarine depot ship HMS Forth. Clipped Signature - D W Napper. Joined the Royal Navy in 1936 and served on ships including HMS Valiant and HMS Cygnet in World War Two. He was aboard HMS Havock at the Battle of Cape Matapan and was mentioned in despatches. Post war he made the rank of Captain and was in command of ships including HMS Rhyl and HMS Ganges, retiring in 1973. Clipped Signature - William Glanville. Serving in the Royal Navy in World War Two, he was a survivor of the sinking of HMS Barham - an explosion that killed more than 800 of the crew. He would later become the Lord Mayor of Plymouth and host at least one reunion for survivors. Clipped Signature - Rodney Sturdee. Joining the Royal Navy in 1937, he served throughout World War Two. He was a Midshipman aboard HMS Exeter at the battle of the River Plate and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross in 1945. In a long post war career he attained the rank of Rear Admiral before retiring in 1972. He died in 2009. Clipped Signature - Sir John Gingell. Flew Seafire and Firefly aircraft in the Fleet Air Arm, then later Mosquito and Canberra photographic aircraft wth No.58 Sqn. He commanded No.27 Sqn flying Vulcans and retired in 1984 as Air Chief Marshal. He died in 2009. Clipped Signature - Hans Hellwig. Joined the Kriesgmarine aged 18 in 1940 and was posted to Bismarck that May. Serving in one of the main 15-in turrets in her final battle, the gun was destroyed but he moved to a starboard 6-in gun until the end. He died in 2005.

Clipped Signature - J H Youngs. Joined the Royal Navy at HMS Ganges in 1934, served on HMS Rodney and HMS Furious before joining HMS Courageous in 1939. He was aboard when the ship was sunk barely a fortnight after he arrived. He served as an air mechanic throughout the war and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1958. Clipped Signature - Hugh Mackenzie. Served as a submariner in World War Two commanding subs inlcuding H28, H43, Thrasher and Tantalus. He remained in the Navy until retiring in 1968 as Vice-Admiral, and was knighted. He died in 1996.

Clipped Signature - Burkard von Mullenheim-Rechberg. A German naval officer from 1929, he served on cruisers and destroyers before he joined the Bismarck in May 1940. One year later he was the highest ranking officer to survive the sinking, and spent most of the war as a prisoner in Canada. Post-war he joined the German Diplomatic Service, retiring in 1975. Clipped Signature - Klaus Scholtz. U-Boat Captain.

Clipped Signature - Eric Clark. Served during World War Two in the Royal Navy. His ships included HMS Kipling in the Mediterranean from 1941 until its sinking on 11th May 1942. He survived this and later served at HMS Good Hope in South Africa, HMS Gorgon during D-Day and HMS Diamond. Clipped Signature - Otto Peters. A crewman who survived the sinking of the Bismarck, he died in 2013.

Clipped Signature - Adam Bergius. A naval diver who was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for completing a perilous mission with midget submarine XE-4. Tasked with cutting an undersea Japanese communications cable, he succeeded in cutting the critical wire despite enormous risk at the depth. He died in 2009. Clipped Signature - George Gomery. Served with the Royal Navy in World War Two, aboard the ill-fated HMS Repulse as a bugler. HMS Repulse was sunk on 10th December 1941 by high-level Japanese bombers and torpedo bombers at the same time as HMS Prince of Wales. Clipped Signature - Don Redman. Don Redman was a signalman on HMS Amethyst at the time of the famed Yangtze Incident. He was on the bridge of the ship when a Chinese shell burst, killing nearly everyone on the bridge. Don was himself seriously wounded, and his life was saved by an RAF doctor (Michael Fearnley) who was flown in aboard a Sunderland flying boat. We know Don Redman died sometime between the years 2000 and 2011.
