Clipped Signature - Sir Denis Spotswood. A pilot in the RAF before the war, he flew Ansons with No.220 Sqn before piloting flying boats. He flew the Southampton with No.201 Sqn, Singapore and Stranraer with No.209 Sqn before World War Two. He then flew Lerwick and finally the Catalina with No.209 Sqn, transferring to command No.500 Sqn in 1942. Awarded the DSO and DFC, he became a senior figure in the RAF until retirement in 1974. He died in 2001. Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures. |
